What Is 45GS?

In 1968, the year after the birth of the "44GS," the origin of the "Grand Seiko Style," the "45GS" was released, adhering to this design language. The 45GS was equipped with the brand's first hand-wound 10-beat high-beat movement, the "Caliber 4520," achieving stable high precision against positional differences and external disturbances.

The 45GS "Caliber 4520" model was released in 1968.

The Original 1968 Design Has Been Recreated With Modern Technology And The Latest Movement, Resulting In An Upgraded And Improved Version.

This limited-edition reissue model combines the design of the 45GS, the brand's first 10-beat hand-wound mechanical watch, with the long-awaited 10-beat hand-wound mechanical "Caliber 9SA4," which was finally released in 2024 after more than 50 years. The case and dial designs faithfully reproduce the original model.

The sharp-edged case, characterized by its flat surface made up of distortion-free mirror-like surfaces and curved sides, is reproduced using modern technology and emits a striking brilliance based on the "light and shadow" theme that has been a hallmark of the Grand Seiko style since its inception.

The dial features "SEIKO" at the 12 o'clock position, the "GS" logo and "HI-BEAT" lettering reproduced in the same font as the original model at the 6 o'clock position, the number "36000" indicating the movement's frequency per hour, and the "Daini Seikosha" logo mark indicating the birthplace of the original model, recreating the design of the 45GS from 1968.

Equipped With Caliber 9SA4

The Caliber 9SA4 is a hand-wound movement that provides a pleasant feel and sound when winding, and also allows you to appreciate the movement of the parts of the hand-wound mechanism. The shape of the "kohaze," a part that prevents the mainspring from rotating in reverse when winding, is inspired by the wagtail, the official bird of Morioka City, which can also be seen on the grounds of the Grand Seiko Studio Shizukuishi where the mechanical watches are made.
