Evolution 9 Collection

A Mechanical Watch That Reflects The Mystical Scenery Of Genbi Gorge On Its Dial.

Genbi Gorge, a designated natural monument and scenic spot in Japan, is a valley in the middle reaches of the Iwai River in Iwate Prefecture, the manufacturing base for mechanical watches. The majestic and mystical scenery of Genbi Gorge is expressed on the dial with a new stamped pattern and light green coloring. For the first time in the Evolution 9 collection, the case and bracelet are made of "Ever Brilliant Steel," which boasts the world's highest level of corrosion resistance among stainless steels. The material's characteristic of shining brighter white harmonizes with the vibrant green of the dial. The movement is equipped with Caliber 9SA5, which has 10 vibrations per second and achieves a continuous power reserve of approximately 80 hours when fully wound.

A Dial Inspired By The Majestic Scenery Of Genbi Gorge.

The Iwai River, which originates in Mount Kurikoma in Iwate Prefecture, has eroded massive rocks, creating the "Genbi Gorge," a 2km stretch of canyon that displays ever-changing scenery of potholes, waterfalls, and deep pools. This majestic landscape, renowned as one of Japan's most beautiful scenic spots, is expressed on the dial with a stamped pattern and light green coloring. The dial's appearance changes in layers depending on the angle of the light, giving it a vibrant and refreshing feel.

It Boasts Excellent Corrosion Resistance.
Everbrilliant Steel

Everbrilliant Steel, a stainless steel material boasting the world's highest level of corrosion resistance, surpasses the corrosion resistance of stainless steel materials commonly used in high-end watches, while also possessing a beautiful, white luster. Traditionally, this material has been used for harsh environments such as marine structures and equipment exposed to chloride-containing environments in chemical and food processing plants, making it difficult to meet the quality requirements for jewelry like watches. However, Grand Seiko, which pursues beauty that can be cherished for a long time, has completely re-examined the conventional manufacturing process and succeeded in making it practical for both cases and bracelets.

Caliber 9SA5

By employing a dual-impulse escapement (a highly efficient escapement) and twin barrels (two mainsprings), this watch achieves a high beat rate of 36,000 vibrations per hour while maintaining a power reserve of approximately 80 hours when fully wound, and its unique horizontal gear train structure enables a slim design.

A Spring Drive GMT Model That Embodies The Majesty Of A Lion In A Tough Design.

Since its inception in 1960, Grand Seiko has used the lion, the king of beasts, as its brand symbol. To embody the majesty and ferocity of the lion, this model features a robust exterior reminiscent of its forelegs, claws, and mane. The lugs, designed to resemble the lion's claws, are characterized by their bold shape, as if the edges of a solid block of metal have been cut off. The substantial case provides a secure fit, as if the lion's forelegs are gripping the wrist. The reddish-brown GMT hand subtly asserts its presence against the shiny white dial. Furthermore, it exhibits high practicality befitting a sports watch, such as excellent visibility at night thanks to Lumibrite (luminescent paint) applied to the indices and hands, and high water resistance of 20 atmospheres. Equipped with the highly accurate Spring Drive GMT movement "Caliber 9R66" with an average monthly deviation of ± 15 seconds (equivalent to ± 1 second per day), the smooth sweeping motion of the stopwatch and second hands, as well as the presence of the GMT hand, further enhances the sporty impression.

The Dial Is Inspired By The Mane Of A Lion Shining In The Sunlight.

The dial design features an organic, stamped pattern reminiscent of a lion's mane. The reddish-brown GMT hand, chosen to contrast with the shiny white dial, prevents misreading of the hour, minute, and second hands, and is equipped with Lumibrite at the tip for high visibility in dark places.

*The GMT (Greenwich Mean Time) function allows you to display the time in two different time zones by having the hour hand and the 24-hour hand (GMT hand) each show a different time.
